According to zee at the Intua Beatmaker Discussion Forum, 2nd Gen iPod Touch Music Producers can record and sample audio (even Phantom Powered mics ?!?!?) into Beatmaker.

He states that “you’re NOT restricted to crappy headset mics!”

He instructs that you first attach (to your 2nd Gen iPod Touch) a Belkin AV Cable as shown below:

This cable has 3 cable connections:

1 – Left Audio Output

1 – Right Audio Output

1 – Mono Audio Input

Then find which of the connectors is the INPUT cable and connect it to an XLR/RCA Adapter as shown below:

Then zee has ONE FINAL STEP :

“ATTACH ANY DYNAMIC MICROPHONE YOU WANT! You could even attach the output from a mixer to it so that you can adjust the input levels and use phantom powered mics! You could attach your guitar!”

If you have a 2nd Generation iPod Touch Music Producer using the Intua Beatmaker app, then please try this out and let me know how this all works out. Thanks!

If the Roland SP-555 sampler is in your toolbox and you want to sample and loop from various input sources such as a CD Player, MIC or turntable, you can use the Loop Capture function. Check out this video demonstration in which a CD Player is connected, recorded and looped during playing as well as quickly assigning a vocally recorded sample to a pad.
