I stumbled upon this old article on USAToday.com that covers a court story in Nashville about them rappers and hip hop people who illegally steal and sample music (I know a couple of them). It’s a very interesting article as they mention sampling snippets of music as well as the relation between digital sampling and popular music pirating practices such as P2P downloading and BitTorrent activities.
